Some of us are lucky enough to achieve some success in getting rid of acne without having to consult a dermatologist. However, in most cases, acne can be really tricky, rather impossible, to get rid of without proper prescription acne medication from your dermatologist.
I've had a long-term struggle with acne, and I've been through different dermatological treatments. In this will list the best 3 acne medication cycles that worked for me, from the least effective to the most effective:
3. Antibiotics or Birth Control Pills: These are quite effective while you're still on them. Still, acne would come back.
2. Topical Retinoids: Be it Tretinoin (Retin-A, Retisol-A) or Adapalene(Differin), they work incredibly well after a long treatment course but relapse rates are really high. You should keep using them forever.
1. Accutane: I have a separate post on Accutane. By far the most effective acne medication out there.
