For the past couple of years I've struggled with moderate acne that is fortunately gone now but left me with a very bad scarring.
I've tried various methods to get rid of my acne scars and improve the skin texture and here are my top favorites:
5. Lemon Juice: Lemon juice is a natural bleaching agent that helps lighten and fade dark spots including those that result from acne.
4.Extra Virgin Olive Oil: This non-comedogenic oil has great benefits for the skin. It helps regenerate and repair the skin. This method worked mostly on my back and chest scarring. I didn't want to put more oil on my face.
3. Baking Soda: Baking Soda is the most effective natural skin bleach I've ever tried. It has very strong exfoliating properties that work like a light microdermabrasion. It helps lighten and even out the skin tone. The only downside is it being quite harsh on the skin, so it's not recommended to use it more than once a week on your face and twice a week on your body.
2. Hydroquinone: With its strong bleaching properties, this product definitely helps lighten dark and red marks left from acne.
1. Retinoids: This includes all forms of Tretinoin (Retin-A, Differin..etc) and besides their potent and effective acne clearing properties, they also lighten and fade scars. Retinoids act like gentle chemical peels and you can definitely feel that. The skin cells shed and renew themselves very quickly and this helps tremendously with many skin problems including acne and acne scars.
It takes some time to see results with any of these methods. But the good news are: over time, acne scars will start fading on their own anyway.
